Creative Cycling

April 15th. I‘m so looking forward to that day. It’s the day the redesigned Pinching the Ostrich site will go online. I know. What’s another site on the already overpopulated web? But that’s not the point.

Going live mid April means more than just pushing a button and be done with it. I’m looking forward to it because it means the end of a cycle. You see, lately I’ve become increasingly aware of the different cycles I would seem to go through living this ‘Pinching the Ostrich’ experiment.
There are basically two modes I would seem to find myself in. Either my focus and energy is aimed outward: interacting with people, sharing thoughts, experiencing things, with little or no introspective process going on. Or my energy and focus are reserved for reflection, work behind the scenes, being inwardly very active with little tangible to show for it to the outside world.

The last few days I started to feel uncomfortable with living inwardly. Not because that’s not a good place to be, but because I can feel the need to go to the other side grow with each passing day.

Come to think of it, I’ve been terribly busy the last 2 to 3 months, but 90% of the energy and time invested was aimed inwardly: rethinking the entire PtO story and format, starting my own company, switching from Art to Psychology studies, preparing for my upcoming ‘Overcome Anything’ challenge about overcoming the paralyzing idea of possible future public humiliation, etcetera, etcetera.

I’m not sure what to make of these creative cycles, but they do seem to live in a kind of symbiosis. They need and feed each other. And when one has outlived his usefulness the other one is ready to take over. They are like two sides of the same coin and I’m really curious if any of you experience a similar phenomenon?

For now, April 15th, that’s when I’m breaking outside the confinement of my own thoughts and can start sharing again. The transition is already taking place. Good.

In the meantime, I am happy to share this little animation with you. It’s ‘Pinching the Ostrich’ in little under a minute. And it is a representative taste of what is to come.

I hope it resonates somehow and look forward to sharing PtO’s rebirth with you on April 15th.

Take care,
Karl

PS: By the way, you can become a Pinching the Ostrich fan on Facebook if you like. See you there!

Hey Karl,

I'm looking forward with you and very curious. Sorry for this late reaction but I'm kind of busy. Looking at you it reminds me that busy is something different than productive. Got to find a solution for that. Still, following "The Pinc" and trying to learn from you every time. Thanks for keeping me posted and making me think once in a while :-)
