(If there's anyone out there that can fill in the blanks, by all means, be my guest. I'd be happy to give credit to give credit to the person who came up with this)
And then there’s another one that I use quite often myself when teaching or using random stimuli techniques during brainstorms or creative thinking training sessions. “If something, anything, you see right in front of you fails to inspire you…look again.” Keeping that in mind, I couldn’t resist using the scene below for one of the photographic experiments I’m doing while working on this quarter’s assignment given to me by Gerry O’Leary.
I mean look at it. It’s the mantle piece of the cottage where spending our holiday at. I wouldn’t even know where to start looking for the things that make up this, er, eclectic collection. I mean, what were the – very lovely I’m sure – owners thinking?
These aren’t ‘photoshopped’ or manipulated in any way. They were taken with a Nikon D90, 50mm lens at f1.4, 200 ISO and exposure time varying between 1/20 and 20 seconds, which – as you may have guessed – also suggests that there was a tripod there. (the rest of the batch sits on my Flickr account) The light sources used: a candle, a blue led light, a red laser light and a flashlight. That’s it. And that’s the point of course, to work with what you have. In this case: the most hideous plastic flowers in a 10 km radius, 12 EURO worth of flashlights and candles, and the dark of night.
