The end of month 2. Time sure flies when you're having fun, although February does not have the reputation of being my time of the year, on the contrary. At the end of winter I usually have to deal with a case of winter depression or SAD (that abbreviation can not be a coincidence) or Seasonal Affective Disorder.
It's a two week faze in which I'm just moody, uninterested in just about anything, more emotional, the works...depending on the hours of sun I got in summer and autumn. This year it didn't hit me as hard as it normally does and I guess there's a few things that help to explain that: a week of Caribbean sun the week before Christmas and a clean and healthy diet of whole foods with some serious physical and mental exercise on the side. It didn't eliminate that recurring winter blues, but I'm quite certain it did help contain it this year. As I'm writing this, I'm fighting the last few remaining dark thoughts and progressively winning ground with each passing day. By mid March I'm all sunny again. Do you people have similar experiences?
Speaking of experiences, it's so good to be back in school again. Well, it's distance learning, but still. It's good to be studying, learning and discovering again. Makes you realize how big the world out there is. The past few weeks my world has expanded by studying Cleopatra's reputation through the ages and Marlow's Dr. Faustus, which for this non-native, is quite the challenge I must say. This Middle English is really stretching a couple of Broca and Wernicke neural pathways to their limits. I like it! The coming week is all about Paul Cézanne after which it's only about 24 more topics. ;-)

Jan 1st : 90kg – bodyfat % : 20
Jan 31st: 87kg – bodyfat %: 15,50
March 1st: 86kg - bodyfat %: 14.40
Remember, the 2009 goal is 84kg and a bodyfat % of 8.00. Which means I am still very much on schedule. Something I'm particularly happy about is that I only have 3 more runs eft before I finished the 5k running program. Which also means, that in a week from now, I will start doing interval training to further lower that bf%.
March looks promising. There's the finish of the 5k running program and the start of interval training. There's the first tutor marked assignment on the Arts coming up in a week from now. There's the end of The Artist's Way challenge and consequently the first connect-to-anyone challenge dead ahead. There's a 20 minutes conference I'm going to be able to give on "Pinching the Ostrich" at an event called "Creërend Leven" (Dutch) or "Creative Living" in Antwerp on Saturday the 14th.
An event that will also be attended by speakers such as creativity coach Eric Maisel and Cynthia Morris. You can imagine I'm looking forward to that. And there's a first appointment I have to honour in the Overcome Anything category…nope, I'm not telling yet. Just letting you know, I'm on it.
Oh yeah, and than there's work and kids and life in general. You know. ;-)
The only thing I'm struggling with so far? Finding the time to write and post articles. Hmmm.
