OK, playtime is over! That has to be one of the most important conclusion after this fist month of Pinching the Ostrich. Because from now on, things are going to get far more serious.
In a week from now, the Arts course at the OU London starts. Meaning that 1) the speed reading and memory technique goals will have to be worked on conscienciously, which until now did not happen diligently enough. 2) The planning of The Artist’s Way and my studies will have to be aligned. Just when I was getting the hang of doing the Dauntless Daydream, Moleskine Memoirs and Question Quest, I will have to shift their time, place and content in order to have them work even better with me and for me, on the tasks at hand.
Another thing that will gear up the efforts is the physical part of the challenge. Up until now, I had two workouts per week in the gym and three runs in the park. The former quite limited in time because I had 4 weeks of break in training. Those would be rather light and short training sessions in order to give my body the time to adapt to the new regime. The latter was also limited in time because these first weeks consisted of gradual build-up runs, keeping workouts under 30 minutes.
There will be no weight lifting the coming week, for purpose of recovery. The running sessions will continue and will exceed 30 minutes from now on, putting extra strain on my morning schedule. And a week from now, I will have to squeeze in three workouts per week, which will take longer than the ones I did until now and they will be more intense.
And that’s to name just a few things. Hence, playtime is over.

As I mentioned before, I’m working on my health as well. To give you an idea on my progress:
Jan 1st : 90kg – bodyfat % : 20
Jan 31st: 87kg – bodyfat %: 15,50
The weight loss is no real surprise, the body fat percentage is. Although I’m sure that this number is influenced by the lowering of carbs in my diet and significantly lower water retention, which is what happens we you start drinking a minimum of 2.5 liter of water per day. The main thing is the positive evolution and the fact that I’m feeling more energized, I sleep better and I’m experiencing less stress physically.
Next month, I’ll be taking you on a tour through this creative lion’s den. The physical space I have created to shut out the world and let my creative thoughts flow. From a historical perspective, it’s the one place were so many discoveries have been made and so many groundbreaking ideas were formulated and worked on…the garage!
